(This particular piece along with some other Kyanite pieces, may appear to have cracks and/or breakages within the stone. However, given the way that Kyanite forms in layers; it is not considered broken or faulty as this is common and part of what makes the stone look the way it does. Kyanite is on the lower end of the MOHS Hardness Scale, making it softer than the majority of stones specifically due to its flaky nature).
